BBC Radio 2 broadcaster Owain Wyn Evans is preparing to embark on an endurance challenge for Children in Need, spanning nearly 400 miles across the United Kingdom. The ambitious five-day route will take the Welsh presenter through all four nations of the UK, beginning in Glasgow and culminating in Cardiff.

The upcoming charity event is scheduled to run from Monday, November 9, to Friday, November 13. Organizers at the BBC have noted that this journey will mark the longest distance ever covered by a Radio 2 personality during a fundraising campaign for the charity. The final day of the grueling ride will coincide with the broadcast of the annual televised fundraising appeal.

Evans admitted that the undertaking will test his physical and mental limits. He remarked that while the endeavor will undoubtedly prove demanding and intimidating, he is fully committed to giving the project his all. He also acknowledged the high standards set by fellow network presenters such as Sara Cox, Paddy McGuinness, and Vernon Kay, who have completed remarkable feats for the cause in previous years.

To help him prepare and endure the intense physical demands of the cross-country trip, sports scientist Professor Greg Whyte will provide continuous guidance and support. Whyte previously assisted Cox when she completed a multi-marathon distance challenge through several northern English counties.

Helen Thomas, head of BBC Radio 2, expressed gratitude to Evans for taking on the iconic Pudsey backpack. She emphasized that the efforts of the presenters directly benefit thousands of vulnerable children across the country.

While the full roster of hosts for the 2026 televised fundraiser remains under wraps, fellow Welsh media personality and One Show host Alex Jones has been confirmed as part of the presenting team. Further details regarding checkpoints and community events along Evans' route are expected to be announced closer to the November start date.
