Director Nitesh Tiwari is taking a dual approach with his upcoming cinematic adaptation of the epic Hindu scripture Ramayana. While domestic audiences in India will experience a sprawling, music-filled theatrical event, viewers around the world will receive a more streamlined cinematic experience. The international cut of the film will run approximately thirty minutes shorter than the primary Hindi-language version.
Makers of the high-profile project have tailored the global edition to better align with the pacing preferences of international moviegoers. To achieve this, the global cut will completely remove the musical numbers that are traditionally central to major Indian blockbusters. Editors have also trimmed various narrative sequences to maintain a faster momentum throughout the sprawling mythological tale.
In contrast, the domestic version will retain its full musical score and expanded storytelling scope. Bollywood productions frequently incorporate elaborate song-and-dance sequences as a core element of the viewing experience, a tradition that remains immensely popular among domestic audiences.
The staggered global rollout is scheduled to begin with international territories receiving the film on November 5. Viewers across India will then be able to watch the domestic cut in theaters starting on November 8. This strategy allows the studio to cater simultaneously to traditional domestic tastes and the structural expectations of overseas markets.
Planning for the broader franchise is already underway following the production of the first installment. Studio executives have confirmed that a second part of the epic saga is currently slated to debut during the Diwali holiday season in 2027. This multi-part approach reflects the massive scale required to properly adapt the ancient Sanskrit epic for modern screens.
