Middlesex claimed the One Day Cup League Two title in style after securing a 67-run victory over Glamorgan in the final at Bristol.
The summit clash was highlighted by a phenomenal individual performance from Middlesex captain Saskia Horley. The Scotland international dominated the contest with both bat and ball to steer her side to championship glory.
Middlesex batted first after winning the toss and constructed a formidable total of 278-6 from their allotted fifty overs. The innings experienced a few early setbacks when Artemis Downer and Izzy Routledge fell inside the opening twenty overs. Pippa Sproul then contributed a steady 43 runs to help steady the innings alongside her teammates.
A pivotal moment arrived when Horley teamed up with Finty Trussler for a massive fourth-wicket partnership worth 131 runs. Glamorgan's fielding efforts faltered significantly during this phase, featuring multiple missed chances and a botched stumping opportunity. Trussler eventually departed for 43, while Horley continued her assault until she was finally dismissed for a brilliant 117 off just 86 deliveries, striking 13 boundaries.
Chasing a target of 279, Glamorgan faced an uphill battle and lost influential skipper Lauren Parfitt early in the fifth over. Wickets fell at regular intervals as Daisy Jeanes and Megan Sturge failed to make major impacts against a disciplined Middlesex bowling attack.
Bethan Gammon and Abbey Freeborn attempted a rescue mission by mounting a 72-run partnership to revive the chase. However, the momentum shifted permanently once Freeborn was bowled for 43 by Anaya Patel. Hannah Davis soon stepped up to remove Gammon for a top-scoring knock of 58, ending any lingering hopes of a Glamorgan comeback.
Horley then returned with the ball to dismantle the lower order, finishing her spell with impressive figures of 4-36. Davis also caused major damage by picking up three wickets to derail the Welsh batting lineup.
Glamorgan was ultimately bowled out for 211 in the 45th over. The defeat ended their final match in tier-two cricket before transitioning to a professional setup, falling just short of a domestic double after previously winning the League Two T20 Blast. For Middlesex, the triumph marks their maiden One Day Cup title in a memorable conclusion to the league campaign.
