Local law enforcement authorities in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh have taken two men into custody following the brutal murder and dismemberment of a woman. The victim, identified as Kalyani, was allegedly killed by an acquaintance following a financial dispute earlier in the month.

According to investigators, the primary suspect is a local butcher named Shafi. Police state that Shafi and the victim engaged in an argument over money on September 17. The altercation escalated rapidly, resulting in the woman's throat being slit.

Following the homicide, the suspects attempted to conceal the crime by destroying and scattering the victim's remains. Reports indicate that the body was dismembered into multiple pieces and discarded into a nearby canal.

The breakthrough in the missing person case came after authorities circulated details online. Family members scrolling through social media platforms recognized a distinctive tattoo on a photograph of the recovered remains, enabling them to positively identify the victim to the police.

Prompted by the identification, detectives focused their efforts on tracing the victim's final movements and known associates. This investigation led them directly to Shafi and an alleged accomplice, a man named Guruvulu.

Both suspects are currently being held by local police for interrogation. Investigators are working to establish the exact sequence of events and determine the specific level of involvement for each detained individual in the gruesome disposal of the body.

Violent crimes involving financial disputes present ongoing challenges for local law enforcement agencies across the region. Authorities continue to question the suspects as the investigation into the homicide proceeds.
